★ Burglars ascended upon the Village of Arpin in the wee hours of
Friday, February 18, 1921. As the community slumbered, thieves broke into Roehrig’s Garage, John Losphky’s store, Byron Wittingham’s store, John Moffat’s store, and the Booth-Campbell Lumber Co. office; a possibly related attempted robbery occurred at the Bossert Corl Company office at 8:30 the previous evening. Apparently interested only in cash (nothing else was reported missing), losses totaled only about $200. As none of the villagers heard any noise, the burglers had escaped leaving Arpin Sheriff Mueller and Undersheriff Bluett with “no clew to the robbers”.
Arpin is located in Wood County.
Little Wisconsin will be available May 7, 2019.
